Over-apologising & people pleasing
I say sorry before I have even done anything. Keeping others happy feels safer than being seen.
Your inner child is the younger part of you that still holds early experiences, emotions and beliefs. Sometimes anxiety, low self-worth, relationship struggles or strong emotional reactions are rooted in unmet needs from the past.
“The parts of you that learned to be quiet, strong or unseen… are still waiting to be gently heard”
Inner child patterns often disguise themselves as adult habits. Here are some of the ways they quietly show up.
I say sorry before I have even done anything. Keeping others happy feels safer than being seen.
A missed reply, a changed plan, a cool tone, and part of me is small again.
I speak to myself in a voice I would never use on a child. I learned it young.
Compliments, help, love. I deflect it all. Part of me does not feel worthy of it.
I go from fine to overwhelmed in seconds. The size of the feeling does not match the size of the trigger.
The same dynamics keep finding me. I wonder if it is me, or something older being replayed.
Inner child work does not mean reliving the past. It means gently revisiting the younger parts of you that carried more than they should have, and giving them what they needed at the time. In a relaxed hypnotic state, the subconscious becomes open, imaginative and deeply receptive, making it possible to soothe old emotional wounds, re-parent younger parts of you, and update the beliefs they formed about themselves.
Together we use hypnotherapy, guided regression, NLP and compassionate imagery to bring understanding and safety to those younger experiences. You are always the adult in the room, guiding the process. As old wounds soften, adult life begins to change: the inner critic quietens, relationships feel steadier, and you stop being ambushed by feelings that seem bigger than the moment. You can feel calmer, more confident, and free from patterns that no longer serve who you are now.
Each session is a gentle, safe space to meet the parts of you that carried what happened then, not to relive distress, but to bring understanding, compassion and healing to them now. Always at your pace, always held with care.
