Chronic pain conditions
It has been with me for months or years. Fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain. Something that defines my day.
Pain is not only physical. It is an experience created by the nervous system in response to stress, inflammation, injury, memory and emotional load. Clinical hypnotherapy, combined with NLP, offers a powerful way to change how the brain perceives pain and activate the body’s natural relief.
“Your pain is not imagined, but it can be gently supported in a different way.”
Pain rarely stays neatly within its diagnosis. Here are some of the ways clients describe it.
It has been with me for months or years. Fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain. Something that defines my day.
The more stressed I am, the worse the pain. The worse the pain, the more stressed I am.
I lose hours, sometimes days. I know the warning signs. I want different options.
Cycle pain, endometriosis, pelvic tension. It shapes far more of my life than people see.
Tight, twisting, unpredictable. My nervous system and my gut are in constant conversation.
Scans came back clear, but the pain is real. I need a doorway that is not just medication.
In our sessions, I guide you into a deeply relaxed state where we work gently and directly with how your brain is processing pain. Rather than fighting the sensation, you may be invited to become curious about it, noticing its shape, colour, temperature, texture or movement. That imagery gives the subconscious a way to communicate about the pain that words alone often cannot reach, and opens a door the nervous system can follow. Hypnotherapy works by calming the nervous system and gently changing how the mind and body respond to pain. Using relaxation, focused attention and gentle imagery, we begin to shift patterns so the body can feel more at ease.
From that place, we begin to soften, cool, untangle, lighten or transform the experience. As the imagery changes, the nervous system often follows, shifting from protection and tension towards safety and regulation. This approach can support chronic pain, tension-related pain, migraines, pelvic pain, IBS, pain with no clear medical explanation and recovery from injury. The goal is not to dismiss pain, but to work respectfully with the body and brain, reducing intensity, increasing comfort, and restoring trust.
Each session is tailored to your body, your history and your nervous system. Through relaxation, visualisation and self-hypnosis, we work respectfully with the sensation, reducing intensity, increasing comfort, and restoring a sense of ease and trust in your body, both in session and at home.
Small shifts can make a big difference. Here’s what clients have shared.
